The rhythm and blues song that was Vivian Ann Tillis Lofton Walker's life began on December 8, 1942 in the home of Verba Lee Woolridge in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was the second born of eight children. Her father's name was Alexander Tillis. At a very young age, Hymon and Rosa Lee Lofton, close maternal relatives, brought her to Galveston, Texas where they cared for her until they left this earth. Vivian accepted Jesus in her heart and became a member of Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church while receiving her education in Galveston's school system. Shortly after graduating from Central High School, she became the wife of Fred Walker. After a short stay in Tacoma, Washington, she moved to Houston, Texas to reunite with her mother and many other relatives. Vivian was always the life of the party, a light on the hill of life. If you entered her presence sad, you rarely left that way, she was determined to make you smile. She was an active member of Boynton Chapel United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas for many years until her health began faltering. During the last 15 years of her life, she spent her days caring for and being cared for by her devoted life partner, Thomas Lee Lewis. She remained in Houston until she was called home to her eternal rest on August 8, 2021. Vivian was loved by many and will be missed greatly by her family and many friends. She leaves to mourn her significant other and caregiver, Thomas Lee Lewis; her children Adriene (E. Jerome) Solomon, Bobby Walker, Nathaniel Walker, Leroycia Walker, Hymon Walker and Edward Walker. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.
