Arthur Eugene "Gene" Perkins, age 90, of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 after a lingering illness. Gene was born January 27, 1931 in Polk County, Tennessee. He worked at TRW for 31 years and retired from Johns Manville after 10 years of service.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Lottie and Arthur Perkins; sister, Pearl Carver; brothers, Charlie Perkins and Chester Perkins; grandson, Greg Perkins; granddaughter, Alisha Perkins; step-grandson, Everette Roach III; son-in-law, Everette Roach Jr.; and niece, Reba Perkins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Shelby Jean Perkins; sons, Michael E. Perkins (Jean) of Loudon, Vern Perkins of Knoxville; step-daughters, Debbie Sibbett (Frank) of Knoxville; Teresa Roach of Maryville; niece, Gayle Sims of Soddy Daisy; 8 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a Graveside Service on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 3 pm at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
