Westminster – Billy Dean Martin, 92, husband of Dorthy Jean Sanders Martin, passed away on Saturday, August 21st, 2021, at Prisma Cottingham Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
Billy was born in Oconee County, and was the son of the late Theo and Ruth Rebecca Goforth Martin. Billy was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the 45th Infantry Division, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Billy and was a self-employed building contractor for thirty plus years and a member of Westminster First Baptist Church.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Dorthy Jean Sanders Martin of 71 years; sons, Randall Martin and wife Gina of Westminster, and Robert Martin of Westminster; sister, Sara Herring of Belton; one grandchild, Harris Martin and wife Brittany; and two great grandchildren, Eli Towe and Ella Martin.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by a brother, Homer Martin; sister in- law, Gladys Martin; brother in-law, Mavis Herring.
A graveside service will be held, 11:30 am, Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am- 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 24th, 2021 at Sandifer Funeral Home, prior to the service.
