Funeral services for Joyce Verlene Hawley Spiros, 90, will be at 10:00AM Friday August 27th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gallup, NM. Bishop Tyson Tanner will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup State Veterans Cemetery. Spiros died August 13, 2021 in Albuquerque, NM. she was born July 31, 1931 in Bennett Colorado.
Joyce graduated from Ouray High School then attended college briefly in Greeley, CO before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where she met her husband Pete Phillip Spiros. Joyce , her three sons and mother settled in Gallup, NM in the early 60's where she worked for the BIA for 25 years. After retirement she stayed busy with her many art projects, gardening, genealogy, grandchildren and small candy business. She also served a family history mission for the LDS Church. She was committed to the work of genealogy her entire life.
