Mr. Walter "Doss" Freeman Murphy, 77, of Gillsville, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville Campus.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 In the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Harris will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on June 18, 1944 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Freeman Foster Murphy and the late Cora Jane Smith Murphy.

Mr. Murphy was retired from Fieldale Farms where he worked in Maintenance. Mr. Murphy was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Murphy; sons, Kenneth Bryant, Ricky Bryant, Steven Bryant, Jeff Bryant; daughter, Brenda Turpin; brothers, Larry Murphy, Lonnie Murphy and grandchildren, Chad Johnson, Chad Brophy and Walter Bryant.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Becky and Lloyd Haney of Flowery Branch, Diane and Clayton Helton of Gillsville, Linda and Dennis Turpin of Gainesville, Stephanie and Joseph Savage of Clermont; brother, Harold Murphy of Gainesville; sister, Darlene Murphy of Cumming; grandchildren, Kenny Bryant, Rachel Pressley, Renee Smith, Phillip Eubanks, Steven Bryant, Mandy Dubois, Justin Johnson, Jessica Addington, Christy Witherow, Haley Helton, Ashley Turpin, Sammi Turpin, Justice Turpin, Nicholas Barber, Jasmine Barber, Jennifer Turpin, Dylan Brophy, Waylon Savage, Bryson Turpin; a number of great grandchildren and other loving relatives.
