Yen grew up when her country was experiencing a civil war. She lost her father in the war at a very young age. Her mother Nguyen Thi Ly and older siblings took care of her.
She got married at a very young age to Nguyen Van Trung. They had four children: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Loan, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram and Nguyen Ngoc Hieu. Yen was a very loving mother. She took care of and raised her children to be responsible adults.
Later in life, she married Mai Van Thao. This marriage produced two surviving children: Mai L. Hai and Van H. Mai. Their third child passed away at birth, making this a very sad time for the family.
In 1998, Yen her husband and their two children immigrated to Las Vegas Nevada. Sadly, her husband Mai Van Thao died shortly after in August 1998. Leaving her a widow and single mother to raise their two children alone.
Yen was a wonderful mother who took excellent care of her children and grandchildren. Doing everything, she could for them.
Yen was a Christian woman and was a member of our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church in Las Vegas Nevada.
Yen leaves behind four children living in Vietnam: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Loan, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram and Nguyen Ngoc Hieu and her two children in Las Vegas Nevada Mai L. Hai and Van H. Mai.
She leaves behind two grandchildren living in Las Vegas, Christopher and Sophia and four grandchildren in Vietnam. She also leaves behind her sister Lan (husband Dee) in Las Vegas and numerous nieces and nephews that will definitely miss her.
Yen was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
Everyone that knew her loved her. She always had a smile on her face for all. May she rest in peace.
