MARY BROCK went to meet her Lord on Thursday August 19, 2021. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on August 15, 1942, to the late John S. and Carmen (Karczewski) Spoelstra. In 1960 she graduated from Creston High School, Grand Rapids, MI and went on to study at Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1964. She met (Ernest) Ralph Brock and dated him for 3 years and in 1964 they were married at Berean Bible Church, Grand Rapids, MI.

They lived in northeast Grand Rapids, MI for a time and then moved to the Charlevoix, MI area. While living there, Mary worked as a nurse at the Charlevoix Hospital and at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, MI. The family moved to the South Haven, MI area in 1969, but moved back to Charlevoix area in 1970 to begin farming on Ralph's parent's family farm.

In 1973, Ralph and Mary purchased the former Strohl Dairy farm in the Upper Peninsula and moved to Daggett, MI.

Ralph and Mary have 6 children. As the children grew older, Mary went to work for the Neighborhood Family Center with Emma Raboin. During her years in the Stephenson area, she played the piano at Central Baptist Church and later at Country Bible Church. She learned to play the organ later in life and was the organist at Fellowship Bible Church. She was also instrumental in starting and leading a ladies Bible study at some of the above churches.

She loved gardening, especially her flowers and flower garden. She enjoyed reading. Mary was a homemaker and was also available to help on the family farm. After retirement, she enjoyed time in Florida with her husband.

Her husband and family were the joy of her life and spending time with them was her delight. Mary had the gift of hospitality and loved special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Christmas and coffee or lunch with friends and family. Above all, the Lord Jesus Christ was the focus and motivation of her life.
