Mary "Mimi" Shiro Booth, lifelong resident of Spring Lake, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center with her loving and devoted family at her bedside.
Mimi was born in Staten Island, NY to the late Charles and Mary Shiro. Mimi was predeceased by her parents and her brother Charles Shiro. She is survived by the greatest love of her life, her husband of 50 years, Robert (Bob) Booth, her three children, Robert Booth of Point Pleasant, Molly (Booth) Mechler of Spring Lake Heights, and Ryan Booth and wife Lindsay Booth of Wall Township. She is also survived by her two most precious and cherished gifts, her grandchildren Morgan Mechler and Ryder Booth.
Mimi graduated from Marymount College with a bachelor's degree in English and went on to Iona College to receive her master's. She spent many years of her life in the field of education. She was an English teacher at Sleepy Hollow High School in Tarrytown, NY and an adjunct English professor at Marymount College. She was an enthusiastic reader who enjoyed discussing various literary pieces, new fiction, non-fiction and her favorite, the classics.
Mimi was the picture of elegance, beauty and grace. She was very into fashion and décor and was always up on the latest trends. In her early years, she worked as a sales person for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. She was the owner of The Pink Pony, a cherished boutique in Spring Lake where you could always find a unique outfit, custom handbag or treasured gift. Even after she retired, Mimi still helped people look their best.

Mimi was very active in her community. She was referred to and thought of as the Jewel of Spring Lake. She was a life long member of the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club. She dedicated numerous hours there serving as President for three years and Entertainment Chairwoman for fifteen. She was "in charge of Saturday nights". She was a captain of the ladies tennis team and an avid beach goer. She could always be found sitting, soaking up the sun and rehashing the previous evenings events. She was also a member of the Spring Lake Golf Club and a Communicant of St. Catharine - St. Margaret Parish. She lovingly and patiently aided in preparing funeral masses for members of the parish.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:30am in St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Interment at St. Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt to follow mass.
