William "Bruce" Shepherd, 86, passed away on August 20, 2021. He was born on April 1, 1935, in Graysville, Indiana, to Forrest and Martha (Schuckman) Shepherd.

Bruce graduated Grayville High School as a young man. After high school he attended Oklahoma University and studied Petroleum Engineering. He then went on to work for ALCOA which took him to New York. While there, Bruce was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. After his time in Korea, Bruce returned to working with ALCOA. He was an ambitious entrepreneur. Bruce and his wife, Janet, opened their own stores, Apollo Liquor, which he successfully operated for 50 years while still working with ALCOA. He had many skills and talents, from being a land surveyor to a welder. He was a licensed commercial and residential contractor. He enjoyed restoring classic cars. Bruce loved going to auctions and enjoyed anything he could work on. Being born on April Fool's Day, his dry sense of humor and being a jokester, came naturally. Bruce loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them. He will forever be in their memory.

Bruce is survived by his beautiful wife of 50 years, Janet (Blair) Shepherd; his children, Rhonda Harper, Elizabeth (Gary) Krack, and William B. II (Amanda) Shepherd; his grandchildren, Jana Harper, Matthew Krack, Dr. Ryan Krack, Austin (Kelsie) Krack, Connor Shepherd, and Elinor Shepherd; his siblings, Susan Huelsman, Donald Shepherd, David Shepherd, and Mike (Joyce) Shepherd; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Martha Shepherd.

Sunset Funeral Home will be hosting services for Bruce on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Visitation will begin at 11:00am, with the service to follow at 1:00pm.
