Lifelong Amityville resident and loving mother Audrey Breen O'Connor died on Jan. 19, 2010 after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 26, 1922 in Amityville to Mildred King Drake, also a lifelong Amtyvillian. She married the love of her life, Francis J. Breen, on June 26, 1949 and spent her life giving unconditional love and guidance to her family.
Early in her life, she worked in the Bank of Amityville and at Republic Aviation corporation as a key punch operator.
Mrs. Breen O'Connor was active in her community and was a member of St. Martin's Columbiettes, Amityville Women's Club, Amityville Homemakers, Lindenhurst Homemakers and the Amityville Garden Club. She was an avid knitter, crocheter and crafter who made many items for her loved ones.
She leaves behind her children, Margaret Petri of Bedford, New York; Patricia Johnson of Amityville and Kathleen Breen of Queensbury, New York. Her grandchildren, Megan D'Aleo, Brendan Petri, Colleen Johnson and Scott Johnson, her great granddaughter and namesake, Brooke Audrey D'Aleo also survive her as her grandson-in-law, Frank D'Aleo, and Daniel Petri, Edward Johnson and Jacqueline Lemery, to whom she was a loving mother-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband Francis on June 24, 1969.
Mrs. Breen O'Connor reposed at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on Jan. 21, 2010. A Funeral Mass was held Jan. 22, 2010 at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church, Amityville. Interment followed in Amityville Cemetery.
