Jerry Bryan Marshall
July 13, 1953 - August 13, 2021

On Friday, August 13, 2021, Jerry "Butch" Marshall, devoted husband and father to three children, went to be with his heavenly Father at age 68.
Butch was born on July 13, 1953 in Athens, TN to George and Fay (Goforth) Marshall. He was a student at Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, TN. He married Marian Elizabeth Farmer on October 3, 1975. They raised three children: one daughter, Buffy Marie, and two sons, Israel and Gabriel.
Butch was a true renaissance man! He spent his preschool years toddling around France, where his father was stationed in the Army, impressing les jeunes filles with his French and those big, brown eyes. After time with the United States Navy, Butch settled his family in North Alabama and was a roughneck in the 1980's oil industry. He traded the demanding stints away from home for a home-every-night job as an insurance salesman and later in restaurant management. Butch was even a professional wrestler in numerous small, Southern circuits - making so many special friends and "brothers" along the way. His last job was back in the oil business, serving as a chef on oil rigs, but he once again traded it for retirement and a final move back to Alabama with his wife, this time to spend more time with his grandkids.
Butch was preceded in death by his father, George. He is survived by his wife, Marian; his three children, Buffy, Israel, and Gabriel; his mother, Fay; his loving brothers Roger, Cebrin, and Joe; close friend, Ron Clark; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. Butch has eight grandchildren, Christian, Gabriel, Jazmyne, Layla, Roman, Hunter, Addie, and Emily.
A private visitation was held at New Hope Funeral Home on Friday, 20 August from 9:30 to 10:30, which was followed by a service at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers were Israel Marshall, Gabriel Marshall, Gabriel Labit, Jason Parcus, Ron Clark, and Chris Branyan.
