Melva Baker age 82, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Clinton Christian Church in Clinton, Missouri. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Masks will be required at the funeral service. The service will be livestreamed through the Vansant-Mills Facebook page. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clinton Christian Church and can be left in care of the funeral home. Melva Rose Baker was born on July 12, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to Melvin and Gertrude (Hillers) Sylvester Sr.. Melva married Steve Robert Baker and through this marriage they had two children Steve (Skip) Baker and Brenda (Baker) Lucas. Melva worked for many years as a boss at an advertising company. They retired to Lowry City where they raised their daughter's girls. Years later they moved to Clinton to be closer to family and church. Steve and Melva have been members of the Clinton Christian Church for many years where she was active in many groups as well as a deacon.

Melva is preceded in death by her parents, her children; Steve (Skip) Baker Jr. and Brenda (Baker) Lucas, one nephew, Jason Sylvester, 4 siblings Carol Ann Wierman (Ron Wierman), Melvin Sylvester Jr., Tony Sylvester, and Marcus Sylvester.

Survivors include her husband Steve Robert Baker, 2 grandchildren Bree (Baker) Smith/Husband Christopher Smith, Elise (Lucas) Uecker/Husband Adam Uecker, 5 great grandchildren; Aiden & Reed Smith, Molly, Natalie & Nolan Uecker, sisters Sylvia Wurzer (Henry Wurzer), and Nita Sylvester, brother Robert Sylvester (Angie Sylvester), daughter-in-law; Shelly (Baker) Ratterree, nephew; Eric Wierman (Marla Wierman), nieces; Taylor Olivio, Candace Jones, and Hailee Sylvester, great nieces; Isabella & Katelyn Wierman, and many friends.
