Deaths and Funeral Notices:

Steven Fredrick Fears died Oct. 8, 1995, at his home in McKinleyville at age 57. He was a native of Washington State.

Steve was a longtime resident of Arcata. He worked for Simpson Fairhaven Plywood and was a member of the plant fire brigade and a shop steward.

He loved his family and grandchildren very much.

Steve enjoyed many outdoor activities with his family such as water-skiing, snow-skiing, camping, sports fishing and "snow-birding" in the desert. However, his passion was flying! He flew his private plane for many years, then later he flew his ultra-lites, as a hobby.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn Fears; a son [Living] of Martinez; two daughters and their husbands, [Living] of Sparks, Nev., and [Living] of Weaverville; four brothers, Robert, Bill, Ray and Richard; four sisters, Pat, Sis, Ila, and Erla; his grandchildren, [Living] and [Living], Corey and [Living] and [Living]; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clover Fears; a sister, Carol Fears; and two brothers, Don and Jim Fears.

Friends are invited to attend services at Paul's Chapel in Arcata on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 1995, at 1 p.m.
Honorary bearers will be Ron Adams, Mitchell Fears, Greg Ford, Al Miller, Victor Pimentel, Dan Simas and Shane Simas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Mortuary Chapels/Paul's Chapel, Arcata.
