He was born in Northampton, MA on March 12, 1938, the son of the late Robert Henry and Catherine Mary (Sweeney) Barnett. He had two sisters, Jean Thouin and Elizabeth Routhier, both deceased.
He is survived by his wife Christine A. Barnett (Kaleta) of 45 years and their daughter Catherine M. Barnett of NJ and his children from a previous marriage to Monique Caron of Canada, Christine M. Somodi of KS, Suzanne M. Pelott of MA, Francine D. Brunette of MA, and son Stephen H. Barnett of AK. He also has 11 grandchildren, two great grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
Bill graduated from Northampton High School in 1956. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1962. He received his Associates in Science Degree from Holyoke Community College in 1971 and Bachelor of General Science Degree from University of MA in 1975. He was employed as Manager at AT&T, Long Lines in Springfield, MA; White Plains, NY; and Bedminster, NJ until his retirement in 1998.
He loved gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and fishing.
A service will be held on Wednesday, August 25th at Our Lady of the Valley church in Easthampton, MA and burial at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Easthampton. CZELUSNIAK FUNERAL HOME has been entrusted with arrangements.
