George Earl Strickland, 79, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021. He was born May 10, 1942 in Nash County to the late Percy Allen Strickland and Daisy Holland Strickland Robertson.

George retired with 25 years of service from the Johnston County Public School System as lead carpenter with facilities services. Everyone knew if it was "broke" to give it to George to fix. He loved working with his hands in his shop or tending the land.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale and other times at the home of Kameron and Kevin.

Funeral service 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Baptist Tabernacle Church, 1599 NC-231, Wendell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Boykin Strickland; daughter, Anita S. Hales (Daryl); granddaughters: Kaytlin Hales (Bryce Cullipher), Kameron Hales (Kevin Dannelly); special great-grandchildren: Nick, Chris, Alex; sisters: Becky Jo Saunders, Tammy S. House (William); several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie Strickland and sisters: Ann Ayscue, Sue Strickland; step-father, Sammie Robertson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnston County 4H, 2736 NC Hwy 210, Smithfield, NC 27577.
