Donald Ray Welch
June 25, 1937 - August 15. 2021

Donald R. Welch, resident of Mustang, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Sunday August 15, 2021 with his loving wife Linda by his side.
Donald R. Welch was born to Ira C. Welch and Eureka Thornton Welch in Elmore City, Oklahoma. As, the youngest of his family he was adored by his parents and 6 older siblings. He graduated from Elmore City High and went on to earn both a Bachelors Degree of Science and Masters Degree in Industrial Education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. As he had a life long interest in learning, Don then went on to complete Advance Graduate Studies at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas and at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
Don was a man of few words except when lecturing in the classroom. He had a heart for those in the workforce who returned to the classroom for vocational training. He spent 38 years of his life teaching and 12 years in manufacturing to refresh himself in the workforce. Don's last years of teaching were at Oklahoma State University. He had a passion for Oklahoma State University sports like few others do. Attending OSU sporting events with his family was one of his greatest joys in life. He retired in 1999 and began his life as a full time Grandpa which was his very favorite role. He built his granddaughters a tree house, taught them to ride bikes and swim. Don was his granddaughter's favorite taxi to school and events and he was devoted to them.
Don married his high school sweetheart, Linda J. McKinney Welch in 1958. Soon after, they were blessed with 3 children and their busy family life began. Don enjoyed taking his family camping and many memories were made with the generations of his family.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Linda J. McKinney Welch of Mustang; children Douglas R. Welch, wife Sandi and granddaughters Shealyn and Devyn; Jonny Ann Welch Cooper and husband Bryan; and David Welch. He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him so much as well as the family's dear friends Darrell and Charlene Halverson.
