Everett "Ed" Boober, 80, of Charles Town, WV, departed this life on Thursday, August 12, 2021. He passed peacefully at home while being cared for by his loving family and hospice.

He was born in Howland, ME on August 9, 1941, to Donald Carl Boober and Adele Louine Crooker. Following graduation from Bucksport High School, Ed joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years and was honorably discharged in 1965. He then relocated to the Washington, D.C. area where he joined the Metropolitan Police Department. Ed served for 21 years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant in 1986. In 1988, he began his service to Jefferson County as Ranson Police Chief, Safety Director at Norm Thompson Outfitters, elected to two terms as Jefferson County Sheriff, and Interim Police Chief at Shepherd University. Ed never truly retired as he continued to serve the community he loved until his final days.

He is survived by his loving bride of 32 years, Gail; one son, David Boober (Missi); two daughters, Terri Boober and Jaime Boober; six grandchildren, Nick, Karli, Jenna, Jai, Carson, and Grayson; brother-in-law William "Buster" Costello (Ronnie); nieces and nephews David Engle (Devon), Tracie Darby (Michael), Blake Costello (Karen), Ayrin Milbourne (Ryan) and Marcus Boober, sister-in-law, Elaine Boober and many very special great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; William, James, and Mark and sister-in-law, Faye Engle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 110 W. North St. Charles Town, WV 25414, where he served as a faithful member. Friends will be received from 9:30 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., just prior to the Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Jefferson County fire department of your choice or the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County, P.O. Box 147, Charles Town, WV 25414.
