James S. "Jim" Rucker, 85, of Pembroke, KY died at 5:54 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Bufford and Rev. Dr. Larry Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Ashland, KY he was born April 15, 1936 the son of the late Sanford Bailey Rucker and Etta Mae Rucker. He was retired after 30 years from Bellsouth. Jim was also the developer of Cox Mill Estates. He served as a Scout Master for Boys and Explore, a former chairman of the Christian County Republican Party, member of the Jaycees, and a member of the Homebuilders Association of Hopkinsville. He was also a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four sisters: Letha Daniels, Lelah Franklin, Ruby Carroll, and Alberta Duncan; and a grandson: Michael Elliott Anderson.

Survivors include his wife: Grace Pool Rucker; his son: James M. (Sue) Rucker of Pembroke, KY; his daughter: Kathy Rucker (Michael) Anderson of Pembroke, KY; his brother: Carl G. (Dee) Rucker of Greenville, TX; his grandchildren: Daniel (Katrina) Rucker, Sarah Rucker (Ryan) Turner, Alex Anderson, and Drew Anderson; and eight great grandchildren.
