He and his wife Shirley Bell were the owners of Bell's Antiques in Lumberton, NC. Mr. Bell was the oldest member of the Riverside Church of God.
Mr. Bell is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Charlie Bell and Hattie Bell; a daughter Cathy and a son Larry; also by five sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Shirley Chavis Bell; three sons, Wayne Bell and wife, Betty, Ben Chavis and Lee Chavis; five daughters, Linda Perry and husband Lenny, Mary Pierce, Annie Lewis and husband Cleveland, Betty Taylor and Latasha Whitcraft and husband Mike; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Bell Barnes; 34 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
