Richard was born on December 29th, 1934 in Racine, WI. He graduated from Horlick High School and went on to receive two degrees from the College of Lake County; one in Horticulture and the other in Library Science. Richard was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved books. His passion for music and singing was endless. He had a wanderlust for life and traveling. He and his wife Gail traveled all over the world with their choir.
Richard was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He served our Country for 21 years in which he received several medals and commendations. He went on to be the Post Master in Libertyville, IL. After 20 years he retired to another love "Hawaii, the Big Island" where he lived for 9 years. He eventually moved back to the states and found some amazing friends in Ocala, FL.
He is survived by his children Sandra (Mark) Crompton of Arlington Heights IL; Elizabeth (Jim) Eisele of Irmo, SC; Steven (Janet) Sanborn of Ocala, FL; Alison Sanborn of Waukegan, IL; Rachel Sanborn of Waukegan, IL; Rebecca, Farias of Chicago, IL; Sarah Gray of Chicago, IL; Debra Wicks of Waukegan, IL; Brenda (John) Edwards of Melborne, FL; Duane Petterec of North Chicago, IL; Bonnie Petterec of Waukegan, IL; Dawn (Matthew) Kurhajec of Beach Park, IL; Sister, Jane (Ronnie) Geovanili of Racine, WI; 27 Grandchildren and more than 8 Great Grandchildren.
Richard Marvin Sanborn was the love of our lives and we could not have asked for a better father. We appreciate all the love, support, and sacrifices he has given to his family. He was one of a few good men. Funeral services to be determined.
