Thomas J. Dietz Sr. was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 23, 1938. He died on August 14, 2021 at the age of 83, at Compass Park Masonic Home in Franklin, Indiana where he resided for the past couple of years due to complications of Alzheimer's. Tom - as most people knew him, was loved by all. He had a heart of gold and loved his family. Tom always had a story to share which kept people in stitches, mostly due to him playing a trick, prank or some other type of antic that he could come up with. Tom graduated from Sacred Heart Central HS in 1957. After graduating from High School, Tom enlisted with the Navy and served for four years. He then went on to work for Blue Cross & Blue Shield for over 30 years as an insurance salesman. While working for Blue Cross and Blue Shield he received numerous awards and accolades for his true gift and ability of sales. Tom loved to play golf, was a Colts fan and longtime season ticket holder. He liked to go to the IU & Purdue basketball games whenever he could. He was the "1,000,000 Racer" hockey fan. In his younger days, Tom loved fast cars & especially motorcycles starting off with a Honda Dream "putting his 5 year old son in front of him" & graduating to a Harley Davidson Electra Glide. His most famous car however, was his RED Cadillac with the WHITE tire on the back.
Tom is survived by his son Tommy Dietz, Jr (wife Michele), grandchildren Nicolas & Sophia Dietz and Brother Patrick Jones (wife Jacqueline) and his much beloved companion Abigail (Miss Gay) Patterson, (fondly referred to by Tom as "His Lady"). His nieces and nephews are Mike Dietz (deceased), Jan Dietz, Kathy Dietz & Steve & Maureen (Dietz) Klekar and Bob & Trisha (Jones) Anderson & Jennifer (Jones) Riley. Tom is also preceded in death by his parents, Irvin & Bernadette Dietz, brother Ralph Dietz and sister in-law Marilyn Dietz. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 20th from 4 to 7 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral & Cremation Services, 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of The Greenwood Catholic Church, 335 S. Meridian St, Greenwood, IN. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
