John Spellman Robertson, age 75, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2021, at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Hospital in Little Rock, AR, following a sudden illness.

John was born on May 26, 1946, in Ft. Smith AR, the son of the late John Spellman and Laura Etta Hardin Robertson. He graduated from Springdale High School in 1964 and he attended Russellville Technical School. He served his country in the Air Force National Guard.

He married Roberta "Robbie" Alexander on December 5, 1968, in Miami, OK. Together they were blessed with three children. They made their home in Joplin, where John began his career as a contractor. He owned and operated Spellman and Associates. He built many homes in Joplin and the surrounding area. He was a respected and very talented builder. He was known for his beautiful finish work. John was a Christian.
To know John was to love him, he had a priceless smile and a very kind generous nature. He loved his family and friends and would always lend a hand when they needed it. One of his greatest joys was being Grandpa to Zayden and Jace. He enjoyed sports, especially coaching his son's Little League Baseball teams. He would also spend hours watching baseball with his uncle Ewin.

John is survived by his wife Robbie Robertson, Olathe, KS; children, Mary Laura Cobb and husband Bob, Olathe, KS, Spellman Robertson, Joplin, and Trey Robertson and wife Marie, Bentonville, AR; two sisters, Jo Ellen Thomas, Bella Vista, AR, and Joy Robertson, Jasper, AR; two grandsons, Zayden Cobb and Jace Robertson; his work partner, Jason Stayton; brother-in-law, Danny Alexander, Tucson, AZ; nieces, Ganae Hempe, Georgetown, TX, Lisa Bushnell, Tulsa, OK, Angela Roth, Flint, MI, and Staci Strait, of Florida; nephews, John David Henderson, Fordland, MO, Brian Alexander, Hoisington, KS; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew Gerald Glen Golden II and his son Gerald Glen Golden III; niece Jona Henderson and her son Glen Kilgore; and niece Becky Alexander.

Funeral services will 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21st, at Mason-Woodard Chapel, Joplin, MO. The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. in Bluff Cemetery, Springdale AR. The family will gather at A&Q Chicken in Springdale, AR following the burial service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Spellman Robertson, Trey Robertson, Jason Stayton, John David Henderson, Bob Cobb, Zayden Cobb, and Jace Robertson.

In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be given to the American Stroke Association in care of the mortuary.
