From Jeanne Vogel: "William Wood McIver joined the CSA in the Spring of 1862, as a Spy in Johnson Spy Company, an independent cavalry company, following his future brother-in-law, Ezekiel Madison Fuller. After the capture by the Yankees of Major Alf Johnson, the Spies who were not caught joined Charles L. Morgan's Cavalry Regiment as Co E, Wm. H. Parsons's Brigade.
Serving in Arkansas, Missouri, and Louisiana, William Wood was wounded at Sabine Crossroads during the Red River Campaign, fighting against Gen. Nathaniel Banks' Union troops attempting to invade Texas. Colo. Wm. H. Parsons discharged his Brigade in Robertson Co, TX in May 1865.
Willliam Wood McIver returned to his home in Harrison Co, TX and married Sylbert Almira "Sybet" Fuller. Their son, Oscar S. McIver, was born in Nov 1867, then Sybet Fuller McIver died in childbirth in late 1868.
He married Annie Gipson in Aug 1870. Wm. Wood removed his new wife, Annie Gipson, his mother and siblings to Cooke/Montague Cos, Texas in late 1870."
