William Samuel (B. Sam) Walton, born on August 12, 1925, went to be with the Lord on his 96th birthday, August 12, 2021.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years Jean Hawkins Walton; four children: Jim Walton (Cathy), Teri Walton Whiting (Bryan), Bill Walton (Maria), Robin Walton Pribble; his brother Leland Walton (Sarah); seven grandchildren: Eric, Wes, Michelle, Angela, Jason, Ann Marie, and Ariel; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was born in Rock Springs, TX, and moved to Pompano Beach in 1934. William served in the US Navy in World War II and married Jean Hawkins in 1949. He worked at the Farmer's Market, Jus'Rite Lumber, and then finally as a carpenter until he retired from Centex Rooney. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and lived for his family. He loved sports and played basketball, semi-pro football, as well as coaching.

William is predeceased by his parents, Nimrod James Walton and Annabelle Winn; brother Jim Bob Walton; and sister, Anna Elizabeth (Sally) Walton Levinson.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 11 am at the Pompano Beach Cemetery, 400 SE 23rd Ave. Pompano Beach, with a socially distanced reception in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, Pompano Beach.
