Jimmie Lee Wade, 90 of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the VA Medical Center Hospital in Big Spring, Texas.

Jim was born on March 9, 1931 in Sweetwater, Texas to R.L. Wade and Inez Jenkins. He married Annie Fryar in 1954 and had one child (Jim Jr.). Jim then married Patsy Morton and they had two children (Kirk and Kim).

Jim and his family moved to Muleshoe, Texas when he was 7 years old and he remained there until he was in the 11th grade. He then moved to Roswell, New Mexico and shortly after graduation he joined the Marine Corp in 1951, serving our country bravely during the Korean War.

After Jim left the military, he went on to attend college at Eastern New Mexico and Albuquerque University. After a few years passed, Jim moved to Big Spring, Texas and joined the Big Spring Police Department 1958 and in 1960 he also owned the Tip Top Drive Inn. Eight years later he moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico and then moved on to the Mammoth Police Department in 1968. After 10 years as the Mammoth Chief of Police, Jim retired from the department and took a position as the search and rescue coordinator in the special services of the Pinal County Sherriff's Office.

Jim retired at 64 years old and moved to Tucson, Arizona to live close to his family. Jim enjoyed boxing with his cousin Pete Jenkins and his uncle, the Lightweight Champion of the world, Lew Jenkins. He also boxed on a US warship during the Korean War. Throughout the years, he continued to train boxers in various locations.

He also enjoyed vacationing in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Jim had a passion for Quarter Horse racing and owned several race horses during his retirement.

Jim was a father, grandfather and great grandfather and his family and friends adored him.

Jim is survived by his sons, Jim Wade, Jr. (Kathryn), Kirk Wade (Theresa Rodriguez); grandsons, William Wade, Kelly Wade (TJ), Tyler Wade, William Wade; granddaughters, Stephanie Taylor, Rebecca Wade, Shay Wasson (Chase), Kenzie Rogers, and Jeslie Rodriguez; great grandsons, Rylan Wade, Cal Wasson, Cash Wasson, Cody Wade, Jacob Taylor, Aaron Wade and Derek Wade; great granddaughters; Reese Wade, Katie Wade, Madeline Taylor, Emmalee Taylor and Alexis Wade. He also left many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R. L. Wade and Inez Jenkins; sister, Rebecca Anderson; and daughter, Kim Wade.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the medical staff at the Amada Senior Care in Tucson, Arizona and the VA Medical Center Hospital in Big Spring, Texas, especially those in the Hospice Unit. We are eternally grateful for the kindness and compassion you showed Jim in his final days.

Following his wishes, there will be no official funeral service but we ask that you pray for his spirit as it transitions into his next life.
