BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — On August 17, 2021, Pastor Jim Davis, 75, of Bridgeport, entered his heavenly home that he sang and preached about for over 26 years greeted by angels and in the arms of Jesus.
Jim was born April 16, 1946, in Clarksburg a son of the late Golden and Alice Elizabeth Davis.
Jim is survived by his wife Cynthia Flynn Davis whom he married in 1992. He is also survived by seven children, Jimmy Davis and his wife, Julie, Kim Spellman and her husband, Randy, Tim Davis and his wife, Anissa, Tammy Owens and her husband, Tim, April Randolph, John Oswald and his wife, Magen and Ryan Oswald and his wife, Mallorie. His 15 grandchildren include Ashley Davis, Brandi Callahan, Kody Spellman, Ally Spellman, Brianna Owens, Shianna Owens, Hunter Owens, Aaron Randolph, Jack Oswald, Ben Oswald, Jaden Oswald, Sophia Oswald, Dylan Davis, Bradley Davis and Serenity Davis. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Maddie, Maisie, Mya, Lilly and Oaklynn. His family also includes his brothers, Roger Davis and his wife, Karen and Gary Davis; his sister, Arlene Wolf and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Davis; a grandson, Derrek Davis and his grandparents, Revy and Neva Smith.
Pastor Jim with vision and anointing from the Lord, began the Gospel Barn Church out on the Brushy Fork area in September 1992. Along beside him was his brother, Roger Davis that inspired the name of Christian Endeavors Ministry. Roger and Pastor Jim began playing music together at the age of 16. They, along with Sissy Hebb, Janice Jenkins, Scott Davis, Jimmy Lucas and Karen Davis brought the Southern Gospel music to the church and the area that changed and transformed lives. Pastor Jim brought a light to a community of Stonecoal with the beautiful presence and power of God, drawing many people to the country church on fire with God's word.

Friends and family will be received 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the Gospel Barn Church, Stonecoal Road with Pastor Scott Davis and Pastor George Jenkins presiding. Jim will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery on Brushy Fork Road.
