Former Shawnee resident Roy Edward Collins Sr., 86, died Saturday, Nov. 17, in the VA Care Center in Sulphur, Okla.He was born July 22, 1921, in Prague to Christopher C. Collins and Vera Carr.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was an active member of the local DAV and the American Legion. He was a lifelong farmer.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three wives; two sons, Robert Christopher Collins and Allen Ray Collins; daughter, Betty Marie Bowles; four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his children, Roy Edward Collins Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Janey Ann Horton of Mannford, Okla., Sarah Gay Bussinger of Pawhuska, Okla., Cathy Irene Hostutler of Pawnee, Okla., Faye Paulette Kukuk of Perry, Okla., Mary Ellen Knowles of Pawnee; sister, Pauline Jacob of Phoenix; 20 grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
