William J. McBride, age 75, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Linley Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Born July 31, 1946, in Anderson and reared in Iva, he was a son of the late William Ardy McBride and Gertrude Smith McBride.

William was a veteran of the United States Navy. He received his Master's in Education from Clemson University and was a math instructor for 18 years in local high schools and 2 years at the college level. Following his retirement from teaching, he worked for Armored Car Company. William loved cats and owned many throughout the years. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. "There are no strangers when one is motivated by God." William loved writing, especially poems.

He is survived by his wife of 39 wonderful years, April Badders McBride; brother, Edward J. McBride; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Maxie A. McBride and Marvin McBride.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 20, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Dr. Josh Hunt and Rev. Scott Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621 or the charity of one's choice.

The family would like to thank Linley Park and Hospice of the Upstate for the excellent care they provided to William and for the concern shown to his wife, April. A special thank you is also extended to John Whitfield and Randall Sutherland who were excellent friends to William and very supportive during his illness.

April would like to especially thank Nathan, Dana McBride and Amanda McBride Peterson for all the help they have provided to her during William's illness.
