Shirley Ann Mooney, 86, of Dixon, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, in Wheaton.
She was employed by Dixon Chamber Commerce, United Way and the Dixon Petunia Festival.
Shirley was born December 12, 1934, in Wyanet, IL, the daughter of Herman and Ellen (Anderson) Middleton. She married Robert D. Mooney on December 12, 1953, in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1981.
She shared her life with Edward Bally for 30 years. Shirley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon Elks Lodge# 779, Dixon Moose Lodge# 1551, Lee County Genealogical Society and Bureau County Genealogical Society. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and spending time with her friends and most of all family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Chuck) Stephenitch and Linda (Dean) Apple; two sisters, Margaret (Bob) Lonnon and Sharon Kincaid; eight grandchildren, Andy (Heather) Stephenitch, Brooke (Lucas) Derry, Annie Bahr, Sara (Scott) Beauchamp, Michael (Rachel) Breitzka, Rachael (Kyle) Root, LeAnne (Judd) Deppisch and Stephanie (Brian Bonnell) Apple; son-in-law, Gregory L. Hicks; sister-in-law, Carolyn Middleton and 15 great-grandchildren, Ian, Caden, Brynn, Charlie, Cooper, Paige, Collin, Lauren, Owen, Barrett, Adelynn, Brielle, Greyson, Presley and Sloane.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cindy Hicks; six siblings, Mary Lane Roberts, James (Dorinda) Middleton, William (Joan) Middleton, John Middleton, Raymond "Gene" Middleton and Charles Middleton and one brother-in-law, John Kincaid.
A memorial visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon, with Rev. Joseph O'Donnell, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of cremated remains will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 421 South Peoria Avenue, Dixon, IL 61021.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
