Obituary for Roy Rogers
Surrounded by those he loved, Roy D. Rogers, Sr., 77, of Owego, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Roy was born at home in Owego, NY on April 19, 1944, the son of the late James and Neva (Marshall) Rogers, one of thirteen children. Roy married Carol Short on November 24, 1962 and they shared 46 years together until her passing in 2008. Within those years they created a loving home for their four children. Roy and Carol's homestead continued to be a warm and inviting place to return to, their doors were always open to any of their grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Roy enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Always willing to help anyone in need, Roy would deliver firewood to friends and neighbors. Roy was a hardworking employee for Endicott Forging and retired following 26 years of faithful employment. Roy held a gentle spirit and was an amazing father and a doting grandfather. His memory will live on in all the lives he touched for many years to come.

Roy will be dearly missed by his children: Roy (Tylene) Rogers, Jr.; Tina Rogers; Pamela (Greg) Fredenburg; and Hope Cole; 20 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and siblings: Frank Rogers; Sandra Cosgrove; Richard Roger; Peggy (Elmer) Talcott; Harvey (Mary) Rogers; Jack (Lorrie) Rogers; Danny Rogers and Greg (Martha) Rogers. Numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive.

Roy was predeceased by his loving wife Carol, his parents, siblings: Barbara Lupole, Pat Biller, James William Roger, Judy Likashuk and Herbie McDowell; grandson Steven Sergeant, Jr.; great grandchildren: Steve Tuttle. Jacob Rogers, and Baby Floyd.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, August 23rd from 10 am to 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of his life will follow at 12 pm. Roy will be laid to rest in the Gibson Corners Cemetery.
