Leonard was born in the early 1700's and died in 1800 or 1801, because it is recorded that his wife, Barbara was a widow in 1801. Leonard either migrated with his family from Alsace, France as a young boy, or was a son of the original immigrants and was born shortly after coming to this country. In 1762, Leonard and Philip purchased jointly several tract of land. From 1781 through 1798, Leonard purchased individually other tracts adjoining those owned jointly with Philip. The acreage accumulated by the 2 brothers totaled over 478 acres. In 1798 and 1799, they divided the land into 2 farms; Philip patented, "Hitchbaugh" of 207 acres and Leonard patented, "Industry and Frugality" of 270 acres. The 2 farms adjoined each other and each have been reported to have family burial plots on them but cannot be located. It is believed the 2 brothers, their wives and some of their offspring are buried on their respective farms. "Industry and Frugality" remained in succeeding Burrier generations at least through 1873.

Leonard & Barbara had 6 children:
John b. 4/10/1764
Adam b. 1768
Jacob b. 3/11/1770
Margaret b. 1771
Philip b. 1773
Mary b. 1775
