Glenn W. Hunter, 78 of Independence, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Glenn was born March 26, 1929, in Bates County, Missouri. He graduated from Blairstown High School in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and was stationed in Japan and Korea. Glenn worked as a mail carrier for the Kansas City and Raytown post offices until retiring in 1988. In 1979, Glenn married Wanda Preston. They became charter members of the Crescent Community Church (formerly Heartland Communtiy Church), where they been faithful and devoted members for many years. Glenn was an avid fisherman and loved taking the family to Tim's Pizza. He was a devoted husband and father and extremely proud of this grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Hunter of Clinton, Mo. and sister, Mary Ann Lindaur. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Wanda; a son, Doug Hunter and wife Laury of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Deann Brewer and husband, Mark of Gladstone; five grandchildren, Joel Hunter and wife, Stacy of Spring Texas, Kristen Cullen and husband, Josh of Spring, Texas, Lucy, Ellie and Harry Brewer, of Gladstone; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caleb and Jenna Hunter of Spring, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth Hunter, Chilhowee, Mo. and Carroll Hunter of Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Crescent Creek Community Church, 9507 E. 59th Street, Raytown with burial in Mount Washington Cemetery, Independence. A "Celebration of Life" in honor of Glenn will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Crescent Creek Community Church Memorial Fund.
