James Philip Dobbins Sr., age 68, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday August 15, 2021. Mr. Dobbins was born on May 28, 1953 in Buffalo, NY to Dorothy W. Dobbins and the late Honorable Robert M. Dobbins Sr.

James attended Forestville High School in NY. Sergeant Dobbins served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1978. He was stationed in Europe twice and worked at Marianjoy Rehab Hospital as building engineer in Wheaton, IL and also at Austin Peay State University power plant in Clarksville, TN.

He loved and enjoyed working on his family's genealogy for 30 years and taking island cruises and trips to Gatlinburg with his wife and friends.

Mr. Dobbins is survived by his loving wife Debora Ann Grimes Dobbins, son James Dobbins Jr. (Jennifer), daughter Robin M. Dobbins Williamson (Stephen). Step sons Donnie Grimes (Alicia) and Joshua Grimes. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Deputy Cayme Yeager, Bruce A. Dobbins and Maddie Dobbins; eight step grandchildren, Rose, Donnie, and Vicky Grimes, Joshie and Chance, John Jr., Isaiah, and Elijah; and three great grandchildren Valerie Jo, Lily Michelle, and Harvey Joseph. Mr. Dobbins is also survived by his mother Dorothy W. Dobbins of Bear Lake, NY. One brother Charles Dobbins of West Virginia and sister in law Lyn Dee Dobbins of Ohio. Nieces Kathryn Shaw and Nicole Dobbins, nephews Robert Dobbins III and Jonathan Dobbins; several cousins Nancy Newhouse, Barbara Newhouse, Mary Halpainy, Rick Marien, and Doug Marien.

James Dobbins Sr. was preceded in death by his father The Honorable Robert M. Dobbins Sr. of Arkwright, NY; grandparents John and Florence Dobbins and John and Clara Rawson; his brother Robert Dobbins Jr.; a grandson Joseph AJ Garcia; and a cousin Patrick Dobbins.

A celebration of life and funeral services will be conducted on Monday August 23, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at Gateway Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery, West in Hopkinsville, KY.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Grimes Jr., Donnie Grimes III, Joshua Grimes, Ralph Davis, Jordan Ends, and Clint Moody. Honorary Pallbearer will be James Dobbins Jr.

Arrangements are under the care of Gateway Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Clarksville, TN.
