Tommy "T.J." Johnson, 74, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1946 in Pennington Gap, Virginia, the son of the late John "Johnny" Johnson and Wanda Jean (Hemphill) Thornsberry. T.J. graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1965, and went on to join the United States Air Force. On May 1, 1970 he married his childhood sweetheart, Phyllis (McIntosh) Johnson, who survives. He worked in agriculture in Florida for 24 years and also worked at Jeff Boat for nine years as a welder. T.J. attended the Scaffold Lick Church and loved John Deere Tractors and IU basketball. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis (McIntosh) Johnson; son, Curtis F. Johnson of Lexington, Indiana; two brothers, Jeff Johnson of Vero Beach, Florida and Johnny (Katie) Johnson of Scottsburg, Indiana; four sisters in law, June Lamb, Joan Williams, Sharon (Bill) Craig, and Linda (Keith) Perkinson; granddaughter, Willow Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
