Mr. Russell M. Mason, 90, of Maple Ave., Canajoharie, NY passed away on Friday August 13th, 2021 at the Little Falls Hospital, Little Falls, NY, with his family by his side.

Born on April 14, 1931 in Lakewood, Ohio, he is the son of Allison L. Mason and Daisy Marie Smith Mason.

He attended school in Lakewood, Ohio.

He had been a resident of the Canajoharie area for over 50 years, previously residing in Rochester and Lakewood.

Mr. Mason worked most of his life in retail. He started his career with Neisner's Department Store in Lakewood, Ohio. He transferred to Rochester. The store then became Big N's and later Ames Department Store. From Rochester Russell was transferred to Palatine Bridge. He retired from Wal-Mart.

Mr. Mason was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lakewood, OH and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain.

Russell enjoyed being part of a bowling team, fishing, playing cards, slot machines, going for walks, gardening, and general lawn work.

On July 10, 1982 Russell was married to Joann L. Sturges Hillabush in their backyard in Oppenheim, NY.

His first wife Catherine Sakelious Mason and Siblings, Ethel, Gladys, Mabel, Daisey, Allison "Buzzy", Tootsie and son Ronald Mason predeceased him.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Joann L. Mason of Canajoharie, NY; 8 children Russell and Judy Mason, Richard and Pat Mason, Randy Mason, Sue and Larry Carpenter, Sandra and David Williams, Sharon and William Zinzow, Roger and Rachel Mason, Shelia Mason and Rick Smith, step-children, Laurie and Mark Haper, Amy O'Connor, Dana and Kevin Lasher; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Burial will take place at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
