He was born on October 2, 1944 in Springdale, Arkansas, son of the late Roy and Paralee Lee.
The United States Army recognized him for his honorable service, as a private first class, with a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; Rifle Sharpshooter and 1st Class Gunner M-60. He was a very brave and loyal soldier. He served his country with great honor and was wounded during combat. He retired from the military due to those injuries. His family is very proud of his service.
He is preceded in death by his parents and youngest grandson, Baxden Selby.
He is survived by his son David Lee and his wife Libby; daughter Hilary Selby and her husband Jeremy; four grandsons Drake Lee and his wife Jessica; Stone Lee; Blake Selby and Bryant Selby; the mother of his children Faye Lee; and three sisters, Donna Bailey; Pamela Hankins and Sandy Griggs.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Beard's Funeral Chapel of Fayetteville.
