James W. Hoover, 64, of Avis passed away, Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born October 25, 1956 in Avis he was a son of the late Harry W. and Margaret A. (Staver) Hoover.

He is survived by his loving companion of 42 years Susan M. Snyder.

James worked for Susquehanna Transit in Avis as a mechanic for 37 years.

He was a 1975 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and attended the former Williamsport Area Community College where he studied diesel mechanics. He enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are his loving companion, a daughter Jessica L. Young of Ohio and two grandchildren Aislinn and Nikolas.

Two sisters, Deanna Jean Hoover and Susan (Kenneth) Zinck both of Jersey Shore, three nieces, Rebecca Zinck and her companion Christy Eyer of Avis, Laura (Ray) Harding of Williamsport and Jessica Zinck of Jersey Shore.

Two great nephews Blaine Hall of Williamsport and Brendon Clair of Jersey Shore, five great nieces, Sara Zinck of Jersey Shore, Kiersten Zinck of Avis, Trinity Hall of Williamsport, Constance Harding of Williamsport and Izabella Grimes of Jersey Shore. Also surviving are a great nephew Kolton P. Conz of Linden who he raised.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.

Private family interment will be at a later date in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
