She is preceded by her parents and survived by her three daughters and their father, her granddaughter and husband, and by her sisters, Annette Grisham of Cabot, Arkansas and Sue Horton of Maumelle, Arkansas.
She leaves behind numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Rebecca "Becky" Hill was born September 29, 1944, in Clarksville, Arkansas to Herschel and Lucille Hill.
She attended Coal Hill High School and married Richard Brownlee with whom she had three daughters: Stephanie Brownlee of Grapevine, Texas, Tracie Brownlee of Sugar Land, Texas, and Andrea Brownlee of Pasadena, Texas. Stephanie's daughter, Blair Stauffer Fetting of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, married to Derek Fetting, is her only grandchild.
Anyone who knew Becky was instantly charmed by her playful and loving nature. She was an animal lover with many pets and was devoted to feeding and watching birds, both wild and caged. She instilled curiosity in her children and grandchild and fueled a love of learning through an exploration of nature, trips to the library, and numerous art activities. She enjoyed a range of music and dance, especially concerts, operas, and symphonies broadcast on PBS, her favorite television station. Always quick to laugh and make others laugh, Becky easily made friends. Active and fit, she seemed to always be walking a dog.
As a young homemaker, Becky loved to sew, making clothes for her girls and even for her girls' dolls. Later, she worked in many fields, including office work and furniture sales and as a nurse aide and special education teacher aide.
Becky gifted Richard and her children each with a personalized, inscribed Bible. She led by example in her study of Scripture.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 2:00 at Peevey Funeral & Cremation, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SPCA or PBS.
