John Larry McCreary
September 6, 1940 - August 12, 2021

John Larry McCreary of Whitewright, Texas, formerly of Ozark, Arkansas passed away on August 12, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born on September 6, 1940 to Robert Lee McCreary and Mary Lee (Merriman) McCreary in McKinney, Texas. Larry grew up in Dallas, Texas where he graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1959 and he attended North Texas State University. Larry married Patricia Anne Carrigan on September 3, 1963 in Denton, Texas. He worked for Capital Wire and Cable where he worked for a number of years until 1989 then worked for Encore Wire selling wire for over 30 years. Larry was a full-time rancher for the remainder of his life. He loved fishing, playing poker and most of all, spending time with his family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia McCreary of Whitewright, Texas, formerly of Ozark, Arkansas; children, Gary McCreary of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bill McCreary and wife, Angelia of Bentonville, Arkansas, Ken McCreary and wife, Lupe of Springdale, Arkansas, Becky Michael of Aubrey, Texas and Cindy Gourd and husband, Chance of Aubrey, Texas; grandchildren, Harrison Rooney, Emma Rooney, Levi McCreary, Benjamin McCreary, Jake Michael, Gracie Michael, Katie Michael, Cobe Gourd, Connor Gourd, Carson Gourd and Colton Gourd; brother, Mike McCreary and Dina Brown of Blue Ridge, Texas; sister, Melinda Welch of Whitewright, Texas; and several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee McCreary and Marry Lee McCreary

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Texas.
