He was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Coy and Sibbie Marie Weaver Isbell. He graduated Chester County High School in 1961. He was a member of the Old Friendship Baptist Church. He was married to Barbara Foster of Baldwin, MS in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Foster Isbell; two sons, Bryan Isbell and wife Debbie of Henderson and Brad Isbell and wife Melisia of Lexington; two step daughters, Susan McBrayer of Baldwin, MS and Tracy Walden of Baldwin, MS; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Don Isbell of Greenbrier, TN and Coy Isbell, Jr. of Paris, TN and two sisters, Ruth Roberts of Eads, TN and Carolyn Drummond of Springfield, IL.
