Callie Wells Jr. age 81 of Salem, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, in his residence. Born September 29, 1939 in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of the late Callie Wells Sr. and Lillian (Tincher) Wells.

He retired in 1999 from Midwest Natural Gas and served for many years as a volunteer with the Salem Fire Department. He served in the Armed Forces in the U.S. Navy, had been a life resident of Washington County and was a member of the Salem American Legion Cecil Grimes Post #41 and the Salem V.F.W. Post #6636.

On March 18, 1999 he married Lori (Zink) Wells, who survives.

Also surviving are: Daughter: Cindy (Jeff) Ribelin of Salem; Stepson: Tyler Hoke of Salem; Son: Jeff Trenary of Cripple Creek, Colorado; 3 Sisters: Doris Steward of Little York, Carolyn Fultz of Salem and Patricia Crum of Pekin; Grandchildren: Tera Mull, Sara Jo Burgan, Emily McDonald, Derek Ribelin, Lacey Burgan, Kirsten Quick, Kyra Macintyre, Kalli Quick and Kaden Martin and Great Grandchildren: Khloe Mull, Maci McDonald, Braxton McDonald, Adam Mull, Brady Briscoe, Trace Davis, Tatum Davis, Jakob Wells, Ila MacIntyre, Zander Wright,Theodore McCoskey, Jaxon Schneck, Rayna Jo Clark, Liam Ribelin, Cyrus McGinnis and Evie McCoskey.

He was preceded in death by 1 son, David D. Wells and 1 daughter, Katie Wells.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Wednesday at Dawalt Funeral Home followed by interment in Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and 9 am until the time of the service on Wednesday.
