Ruth was born in Owosso, Michigan on June 18, 1937, to George and Isabelle Deshepper. She was the big sister to her three brothers, Larry Cook, Jerry Cook, and Dennis Cook. Ruth attended school in Ashley, Michigan. She spent most of her early life in Elsie, Michigan, Chapin, Michigan, and Carland, Michigan until her marriage, to which she then remained in the Owosso area. She married Hiram Monroe on November 27, 1986, he preceded her on July 13, 2015.
She enjoyed many traveling adventures in and out of the country and the many friends she made along the way. She was a very social person and loved conversation with everyone. She especially enjoyed travels with her husband and their companion, Wolfer, in their RV, spending most of their time in Arizona before settling back in the Laingsburg, Michigan area.
She was a bus driver for the Ovid-Elsie School District. She was previously employed at Redmond's in Owosso and Lear Corp. in Elsie. She enjoyed bowling and pool leagues in her younger years. She was a past president of the Eagles Aerie 851 Women's Auxiliary and was a standing life member. Her passion was quilting and passed many of her creations down to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of various quilting clubs. Sewing was part of her life, making a lot of the clothing her children wore in their younger years. She enjoyed entering her quilts in the Oakley Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association shows and her sewing project, in her younger years, in the Shiawassee County Fair.
Ruth is survived by her children of the late Andrew Sipka; Edward Sipka, Christine (Sipka) Wolcott/Craig Humphreys, Ruth (Sipka) Smith/Jeffery, Andrew Sipka/Donna Potter, her brothers; Larry Cook and Dennis Cook, her 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
