Mrs. Taylor was born March 29, 1933 in Columbus, GA, the daughter of David Artense Reid and Azie Mae Forsyth Reid. She was raised in Columbus and while attending Columbus Junior High School she met her future husband, Donald R. "Buddy" Taylor. After graduating from Jordan High School, the couple married and moved to Alaska, where Buddy was stationed in the military. Two years afterwards, they returned to Columbus where she worked as a bank teller. At this time the couple was blessed with the birth of two sons, Donald "Rudy' Taylor Jr., and later Randy Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was best known as "Rae" to her many friends in Columbus. She worked many years in the area as a multi-talented interior decorator and retired as General Purchasing Manager for the Bradley Printing Co. She and her husband played an active role in numerous local social and civic events and organizations, but the ones that she enjoyed most were being a part of the Columbus Jaycees and Columbus Jaycettes and assisting her husband in his role with the annual Columbus Soapbox Derby event. Buddy and Rae loved dancing together and won numerous dance competitions. Mrs. Taylor was the former director of the Miss Georgia Pageant when it was based in Columbus and was a very active member of Sherwood Presbyterian Church, where she served on several committees and was a member of the church choir. Her wonderful personality gained her many life long friends including her "Golden Girls" Faye Lee, Joyce Davis and the late Theresa Kelly in addition to past "Columbus Jaycettes" DeAnne Brown, Lori Davis, Margaret Dansby, Joyce Manning and Shirley Wetherington. In addition to her good friend and neighbor Pam Young.

For as long as she was able, she loved spending time with them, going on weekly outings and watching her beloved Georgia Bulldog Football games. After the passing of her husband, she spent more time with family and three years ago moved to LaGrange to be nearer her son and daughter-in-law Randy and Sallie and her grandson Collin, who doted on her as they became increasingly closer to one another. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Taylor, a sister, Bertie Davis and a brother, Donald Reid.
She is survived by two sons, Randy and his wife Sallie Taylor of LaGrange, GA, Rudy and his wife Deborah Taylor of Brownwood, TX; grandchildren, Collin Taylor of LaGrange, Paetra LaFleur, Parker Taylor and Rae Lee Taylor all of Brownwood, TX; sister-in-law Barbara Reid, nephew Dennis Reid, great nephew Brandon Reid of St. Pete FL also numerous very dear friends.

Cox Funeral Home, Hamilton is assisting the family with arrangements.
