She was the daughter of the late Lester and Lelia (Burston) Thomas. Barbara was born, raised, and educated in Franklin, North Carolina and moved to Connecticut when she was a teenager. She worked as a nurses aid at Mount Sinai Hospital for many years until she married the love of her life and become a stay at home mom and begun to raise her family. When her children were teenagers she returned to the work force and worked for the Eastman Kodak Company ( Photomat) in which she eventually retired from.
Barbara was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and dear friend. Barbara treated everyone like family, she was an inspiration to all, and her greatest joy was helping others.
Barbara was an amazing cook. She was known for her famous meat salad, fried chicken and fried rice. She like to bowl and was in several leagues in the Greater Hartford Area, she like to watch old western movies, enjoyed doing puzzle books, liked going to the casino and was always ready to travel. She was also a member of the Trellis Temple #663 and a co-founder of the Lionett's Club.
Barbara is survived by her children, Anita Chappell ( Steve) of Winnsboro, SC, Brian Bryant (Stephanie) of Hartford, CT. Her grandchildren; Brianna & Alexis Tribble- Bryant, Jaden Bryant, Steve Chappell Jr. (Ebony), Staci Chappell, Ebony Turner (Anthony Stewart). Her great grandchildren; Sa'Vion & Da'Vion Wright, Gabrielle, Kali & Khaliya Chappell, Zaniyra Mack, Makada, Samiera, Jasira & Damian Stewart.
Her Siblings, Charles Thomas ( Ovetta) of Johnson City, TN, Patricia Taylor of Bloomfield, CT, Sister-n-laws; Sindie Thomas, of East Hartford and Reverend Patricia Thomas, of Hartford, Brother-n-law; John Bryant, of Macon, GA. and a host of other relatives and friends. A special thank you to all of Barbara's nieces and nephews, for always being there when your Aunt Bob called and needed you.

Her in-laws; James and Eva Bryant, Ezell Goode, Angelo Bryant, Hattie Mae Bryant Perry, EC Perry, Wezzie Ramson, Vincent Ossis Ford-John, Ellen Thomas, Gladys Thomas, Raymond Cowles, Solomon Ellison, and Jagath Naraine.
