Mr. Smith was born in York, May 29, 1939, son of the late Charles J. and Celia M. (Wallick) Smith.
Edwin retired as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. Later he was employed as a metal saw operator for the former Alto Corporation. He retired after 20 years as a night watchman for Keystone Weaving. He was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include three children, Katrina U.M. Emenheiser of York, Roy C.E. Smith of Ocean City, MD and Edwin A.E. Smith of New Cumberland; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two siblings, Randy K. Simmons of Shiloh and Buriel C. "Buddy" Smith of York; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one great-grandson.
There will be a viewing from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh), PA 17408. A graveside service will be held the following day at 10 a.m., in Mount Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mt. Rose Ave., York, PA 17403. All planning to attend, please meet at the gate by 9:45 a.m., we will proceed to the gravesite together. Military rites will be presented at the gravesite by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
