Anson - RICHARD ODELL NEWMAN, 80, died Sunday, August 8, 2021, at his home. A private graveside service was held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home.

Born May 29, 1941, in Stamford, Richard was a son of the late A. C. and Edna (Davis) Newman. He graduated from Snyder High School and Hardin-Simmons University. Richard married Judy Scott May 28, 1965, in Anson. They made their home in Anson where they raised their three children. In 1997, Richard retired from the USDA after thirty-five years of service. He later worked ten years for the Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation. Richard was a longtime member of the Anson Church of Christ. He also was a Mason and earned his 50-year pin.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one brother (Charles Newman).

Survivors include his wife, Judy Newman of Anson; two daughters, Sherity Meek (and husband, Lloyd) of Anson and Shandl Noffsinger (and husband, Albert) of Anson; one son, Creed Newman (and wife, Becky) of Tuscola; and eight grandchildren, Stetson Meek, Savannah Meek, Olathe Noffsinger, Sion Noffsinger, Van Newman, Hayes Newman, Livi Noffsinger and Lonna Noffsinger.
