Kathy Anderson's life on Earth was tragically ended in an automobile accident July 28, 2021. She is now with her Lord and Savior. Kathy was born in Ellsworth on March 22, 1955, to Eleanor and George Anderson. The Andersons were proudly lifelong residents of Ellsworth.

Kathy attended local schools and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1973. Kathy continued her education and attended the University of Maine, Orono, where she received a bachelor's degree in child psychology. Shortly thereafter, she worked as a teacher in the Head Start program. Kathy loved children, and having children learn in a fun way was her passion. Kathy was a very important care provider and mentor to many local children, and in her later years, some of those children's children. Kathy loved her church, The Community of Christ, and found much solace with her very close church family. In 2006, she became an ordained priest whose main function was ministry to family. Kathy fulfilled that calling to the utmost, as family was very important to her. Everyone she befriended became as family to her. She also functioned as church secretary.

Kathy was an avid reader and spent much of her spare time at the Ellsworth library. Kathy also had a deep passion for photography, and always had her camera with her. Kathy loved bird watching and nature and was always looking for that perfect photo to take. In addition, Kathy loved knitting and knitted everyone something special in her family and practically everyone else she knew. Every spring Kathy would plant her beautiful sunflowers and pumpkins. Kathy touched so many, many lives and was loved by all. And, we will all miss her terribly.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, George and Eleanor Anderson. She is survived by her loving family, James Anderson of Ellsworth, Stephen and Antonia Anderson of Portland, Maine, Sheila and Tim Kunzweiler of Dayton, Ohio, Mark and Haley Anderson of Rockport and Cinde and Joe Zucchero of Cape Elizabeth, and very special nieces and nephews: Chelsea and husband, Clay Shanks, of Maine and their two daughters Maggie and Ruby, Sean Anderson of Florida, Alex Kunzweiler and fiancée Tara Stevens and soon-to-be-born Lacie Kay of Okemos, Mich., Rachel Kunzweiler of Columbus, Ohio, Sarah Zucchero and Christian Zucchero of Maine. Kathy also leaves behind the biggest love of her life, young Brock Blanchard. She was his care provider and teacher since birth, and she also leaves behind his loving father, Chad Blanchard, mother, Rebecca Stanley, and grandmother, Jan Stanley. They were her second family and she loved them dearly.

A service will be held celebrating Kathy's life on Thursday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m. at the Ellsworth Community of Christ Church, 283 State St., Ellsworth.
