Obituary:
Mr. Micajah Benjamin Bagwell, age 86, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away August 14, 2021.

He was born September 4, 1934, in Tallapoosa to the late John Alexander and Bertie Bagwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Bagwell; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Naomi and Frank Estvanko, Madel Lummus and Ruth and Jo Josey; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Catherine Bagwell.

Micajah was a Christian, a teacher, a carpenter, a servant, and a leader. He served his country in the US Navy and served his community on the planning board, as councilman and finally as Mayor. He was in the Tallapoosa Masonic Lodge. He taught high school History for Bremen City School System and helped coach the 9th grade football team. In 1974, he started Bagwell Builders and built and or renovated many of the houses all around Tallapoosa.

He loved to hunt and fish, but his greatest love after the Lord was his family. On July 4th, 1954, he married his precious bride in a double ceremony with best friends, even still today, Norman and Jimmie Carol Owens at First Baptist Church in Villa Rica. They had 4 wonderful children and he loved being granddaddy.

For countless years, Micajah taught Sunday school and was a Deacon, first at Tallapoosa First Baptist and then at Providence Baptist Church.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, JoAnn Cobb Bagwell; their three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kent Bagwell, Paul and Diana Bagwell, and John and Barbara Bagwell, all of Tallapoosa; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held, Monday, August 16, 2021, at 2:00 PM from Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Pixler officiating and Eulogy by Kent Bagwell. Speaking will be the Honorable Mike Murphy. Mr. Bagwell will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. Music will be provided by Mary Wright, Lisa Robinson, and Nancy Gentry.

Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Jake Bagwell, Jeremy Church, Brandon Parker, Tyler Jiles, George Lynch and Matt Hooten.

Honorary pallbearers will be Providence Church Deacons, Norman Owens, Jerry Jackson, Dink Bell, and Randy Jiles.

Interment will follow in Providence Church Cemetery with Haralson County Veterans Association providing military honors.

His family will receive friends in the Providence Church Sanctuary, Sunday, August 15th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 PM.
