Mrs. Phillips was born on May 26, 1944 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Leon and Elena (Seeley) Lynch. She received her education at West Canada Valley Central School and was first married to Harold Rice. Marjorie later married Leslie Phillips who preceded her in death.
Marjorie was a devoted homemaker and will be remembered for her excellent cooking skills.
Survivors include four children, Arlene (James) Avery of Frankfort, Michael Rice (Michele Henderson) of Newport, Harold (Mari Jo) Rice, Jr. of Mohawk and Tammy Sabatino of Ilion; 13 grandchildren, Michael, Jr. and Savannah Rice, Brian, Amanda, Ryan, Stephanie and Stephen Leuenberger, Chanin, Derek, MiKayla and Adrianna Rice, Megan Rice and Brittany Shaut; 12 great-grandchildren, Brenden, Jacob, Hayden, Alanna, Karleigh, Blake, Abigail, Dylan, Allison, Dalton, LillyAnna and Jaxson; one great-great-granddaughter, Aria; two sisters, Gertrude Smith of Fairfield and Rosemary (Francis) Boardman of Mohawk; four brothers, Harold (Anna) Lynch of Ilion, James Lynch (Betty) of Dolgeville, Harry Lynch (Jackie) of Waterville and Norman Lynch of Herkimer; her best friend, Matthew Gaston; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Ruth Boardman; two brothers, Francis and Albert Lynch; sisters-in-law, Sherri Lynch, Rita Lynch, Winifred Hicks, Patsy Lynch, and Virginia "Ginny" Lynch; a brother-in-law, Frank "Bud" Smith; a special aunt, Beulah Saltsman; a grandson, Kyle Rice; as well as other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Middleville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are prior to the funeral on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
