Carolyn Mae Murray Allen passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021 in her home and surrounded by her loving husband and two sons. Born on June 12, 1939, she was raised in Erwin, TN and moved to Virginia in 1963 where she began a new life and started to build a family. Carolyn said her purpose in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the true definition of a Godly woman and never had an unkind word or bitterness within her. She was loved by all who knew her.

Carolyn was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church for over 50 years and leaves behind her most sweet and precious memories to her survivors: husband, William Edward Allen; daughter, Tammy Wright (James); Brigitte Layne (William); sons, Keith Allen (Robin), Mark Allen (Patti); grandchildren, Heaven Allen, Ashley Allen, Mark Allen Jr., Anna Wright, Austin Wright, Preston Layne; step-grandchildren, Todd Soesbee, Trey Harmon, Faith Harmon, Kristin Wright, Melanie Wright, Brandon Wright; and great-grandchild, Heyman Boseman.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, at First Calvary Baptist Church, 162 Alleghany Road, Hampton, VA with entombment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
